We wanted to periodically feature Thai staff members on our website, so you can feel more connected to the amazing people and ministry that is going on in Thailand with CCC. Like American CCC staff members, all Thai staff members raise financial support to fund their ministries. If you would feel led to join in giving financially to one of the Thai CCC staff members, please contact us and we can get you connected to them.
Her TestimonyMy name is Dew. I am a full-time Thailand Campus Crusade for Christ (TCCC) staff member, working as the Assistant Regional Director for the Chiang Mai region. This is my 8th year of working in campus ministry with TCCC. I graduated from Maejo University with a degree in Economics after which I volunteered for six months with TCCC. I then decided to serve the Lord full time in 2000.
I was born into a strong Buddhist family of nine children. My family was very poor and my parents had to work very hard to have enough money to take care of all of us. Even though our family tried to be good Buddhists, my father was an alcoholic and did drugs. Many times he was abusive to my mom. I grew to hate my father and many times I promised myself that I would someday kill him. Because I was so broken hearted toward my father, I became quiet, angry and hopeless, and many times I wondered why I was born into this world. When I was young, I left my mother and father to live with my sister. My sister and her husband treated me very badly, and I became even more sad and hopeless. I wanted joy and happiness, but I could not find it anywhere. A wall had been built in my heart, and I felt that I hated my family. Because I was not getting love from my family, I began to try to earn love and acceptance from my friends. I tried everything to gain approval from them, but this front I put up made me very tired. I became so weary from life. Not only did I turn to friends to feel more fulfilled, but I also turned to Buddhism. I began to do good things in college to be a better Buddhist. I attended a Buddhist camp during college, but I knew that I did not feel comfortable or right at the camp; it made me feel very tired.
My life changed when I was a second year student at Maejo University. A close friend of mine became a Christian through TCCC and the next week she invited me to go to an evangelism party with her.
I knew that there was something different about the people in TCCC, and I saw love in them unlike any love I had ever seen before. When we were at the evangelism party, a staff woman shared the 4 spiritual laws with me, and I decided that night to accept Christ into my life. I learned that Jesus loves me and died on the cross to pay for my sins. This was the first time that I had ever heard the gospel, and I felt God’s love for me at this party. I realized that the reason the people of TCCC were different was because they had God in their lives. The love and acceptance that I had been searching for, I finally found in God.
Since then, I have continued to grow in my faith and experience Jesus because of the influence of TCCC. I, along with my fellow staff have had the great opportunity to share Christ with many students on my campus and to help them grow in their relationship with God. God has used His Word in Matthew 9:36-38 to call me to serve Him with my life.
I feel that I am very special in the sight of God because He has chosen me to serve Him in bringing lost students to know Him through Thailand Campus Crusade for Christ. I am very thankful for His grace and for the student movements that He has begun at each university. I strongly believe that these students will be the chief power in making a huge impact for God in Thailand.
P’Dew has been such a blessing to us both since we have arrived in Thailand. She has made us feel welcomed since we first arrived at the airport and has consistently helped us and encouraged us in our time as we have adjusted to the cultural changes. She truly has a servant’s heart and we have gotten to see her passion for sharing the Gospel as she has assisted us in Thai translation on the Rajabhat campus this semester.
P'K has been a great encouragement to us during our time spent in Chiang Mai. Jonathan has gotten to work with him on artistic projects- and has been blown away by his talent and creativity! We also joined with him on trips to villages at Christmas time and had a great time getting to know him better. He has an amazing heart for reaching his campus for the Gospel.
